Getting Rid of Mold

Added January 26, 2007

Q. How can I get rid of mold? Will just good old fashioned soap and water do the trick? Someone told me to use bleach but is that really necessary?

A: The most important thing is to stop the water causing it first. Without stopping the water, the mold will just keep coming back.

Once you’ve stopped the water source, small amounts of mold can be cleaned up with a household cleaner and then disinfected with a ˝ cup of bleach added to gallon of water.

If the mold is deep into any upholstery or carpet, your best bet is to throw them out and replace them.
